Equipment and Tools

Within the context of our research activities, we utilise a number of modelling and simulation software programmes, as well as hardware and laboratory installations.
Modelling and simulation software
- UMBERTO, SIMAPRO and openLCA for substance and energy flow management and life cycle assessment
- MATLAB/Simulink and similar platforms for process modelling and optimisation
- Open source software, GRASS GIS and R for for spatial data management and geostatistics
- TRNSYS, EINSTEIN for the simulation of thermal processes and systems (e.g. buildings)
- National Instruments LabVIEW for measurement and control automation
Hardware
- Spatial data infrastructure (SDI)
- On-site trials of photovoltaic solar panels: meteorological measuring devices, Keithley DAQ-system and Kepco source-meters, tested by the LabVIEW measuring software modified by our teams at the CRTE
- Prototypes for wastewater treatment
- Online surveillance equipment for monitoring, for example, water quality and energy generation and consumption
Laboratory installations
- Laboratory for analysing water samples
- Mechatronic laboratory
